I installed W2000. When asked name & company, I entered
my name. I also added an Administrator pswd when asked.
During the Network Identification Wizard phase, it gives
me the choice whether to require all users to enter a user
name and pswd to log on or to have Windows assume the same
user will always log on to the computer. I selected the
option that Windows always assumes the following user has
logged on to this computer: my name appears in the User
name area -- which is the same name i entered under the
name & company section -- first name and middle initial
followed by a period (.). when I click NEXT>, i get an
Windows error msg: "The user could not be added because
the following error has occurred: The specified username
is invalid." I click OK, which takes me back to the
Users of This Computer window. If I add a pswd with my
name, the same msg appears. Administrator also appears as
an option as another Username, but i don't want everyone
who uses my computer to have access to ALL areas. Any idea
why i'm getting this error msg? Could it be the name with
a period (.) at the end? All suggestions would be greatly
appreciated. Thanks in advance!
