The particular VX2 variant that you cite is extremely difficult to
remove. It would be best if you went to a spyware forum that could walk
you through the steps.
Steve, I know these things are tough - really tough - but this is where
we desperately need Microsoft to step up to the plate. Like many people
I've already done the loop on the spyware forums. Seems like all they do
is walk you through the creation of Hijaack This logs, collect the logs
and that's the last you hear of it.
I've now spent many hours trying to to help a friend who's system has
been rendered all but useless by Cool Web Search, VX Transponder and a
couple others. None of the current spyware tools, including MS
AntiSpyware, are up to the challenge, and at this point I've thrown in
the towel until I hear some new developments. Just going around and
around posting logs and downloading updates has not been productive. At
this point, when friends as me about buying a new computer, I tell them
to consider an Apple.
MS has to forget about all the other anti-spyware programs and
companies, quit passing the buck and do whatever it takes to regain
control of their platform.
Sorry for the negative vibes, but I had to unload this frustration
somewhere.
