I'm trying to clean up and record a bunch of Kodachrome slides made
in the late 1940's and early 1950's. (Weston rating of 8. Whew!)
I noticed the Vuescan (8.0.6) color setting for Vendor=Kodak/Film
Type=Kodachrome, and I assumed it was meant to optimize colors on
the old film. To my surprise, the effect on my slides was to worsen
the color rendition. Plain "Generic" did pretty well --at least
my monitor looks more or less like the slides, but the Kodachrome
setting gave a yellow-green cast to the pictures, rather like the
look of old (ca 1937) color postcards.
I assume either I'm using it wrong or the setting is designed to
do something else than get the color cast right. What is it for,
and what is the right way to use it?
