Vuescan with Agfa Studiostar on Mac OS X

Downloaded the latest Vuescan Version to see whether I could use my old Agfa
Studiostar scanner with OS X. As I do not have a SCSI card for my actual G4
so far, I made the test on a PM 9600 with OS X 10.2 enabled via Xpostfacto
(2.2.1)

Vuescan recognizes the scanner but when I try to do a preview scan, the
scanner head makes some short movements and then stops. Seems that the
communication with the scanner brakes.

The scanner works fine on the same Mac under OS 9 with the Agfa driver, so
the hardware should be ok.

Was anyone successful to use the Studiostar with Vuescan on OSX? And if so,
what is your configuration, e.g. SCSI Adapter, OS X version etc.

Thanks for any advice.

Greetings

Just want to add, that meanwhile I tried the OS 9 version of Vuescan with
the Studiostar and it seems to work.
As it looks, that there are some incompatibilities between Vuescan and the
native SCSI interface of an Mac PM 9600 under OS X, or probably between the
Xpostfacto/OS X hack and the native SCSI interface, there is still the
question, whether the Studiostar will work with a G4 supplied with a SCSI
PCI card under the current OS X.

Anyone tried this with success? If no one uses this combination, can anyone
recommend a (cheap) SCSI-PCI-card for the Mac, that works with some other
SCSI scanner and Vuescan?

If it's any help, my Agfa StudioScan II (SCSI) scanner works with
Vuescan on my Power Mac G4 (OS X 10.2.3) using an Adaptec 2906 SCSI PCI
card. The only inconvenience is that the scanner must be turned on
_before_ powering on the Mac.
