Vuescan Questions : *.ini and print setup

I would like to be able configure Vuescan to be a copier ( with the correct
setup ) by using a command line option if available. Is this possible ? The
reason behind this is that I would like to be able to have this setup so my
wife can use Vuescan as a copier, without having to change the options or
have to read in a particular ini file. I know using another ini file is
relatively easy, but she won't do it. I am using windoze XP and would like
to set up a separate icon that she could click on to bring up Vuescan with
the correct setup.

Additionally, whenever I use the copy to print, my printer invariably comes
up with the A4 sheet option. I have a HPIIIp, and the system default config
that all my other programs use is Letter. Does anyone know what I can do to
force the printer to use Letter as default within Vuescan?
As you can see, these 2 questions are related, since if both of these
issues can be overcome, I would have a default copier setup for my wife
that wouldn't involve me setting things up and overriding issues with the
printer and Vuescan.

Thanks.

Install Vuescan into its default folder, and then ,move the folder to
another directory eg C:/Program Files/vuescan, then install again into its
default folder eg c:/Vuescan ( You now have two installations.
Using Explorer 'drag' vuescan.exe to the desktop and 'set up a shortcut'.
for both installations-one at a time..Change the name of the Icons on the
desktop to something 'Vuescan' and 'Vuescan (copier)'.
Click upon one icon only , say the 'copier ' icon and set it up with
settings you want. Close that copy and start the second, and set that.
Some earlier versions can get a bit 'confused 'if you try and run both at
the same time- Run just one and no problems..

I am grappling with similar ideas, and appreciate the tips regarding
multiple install directories, will give that a try. Too bad Vuescan
does't permit switches after the executable, for something like this.
Or does it? At any rate, it helps that it's a very compact program.

Great Suggestion to solve the multiple configuration. Don't know why
that didn't occur to me.

I still am trying to understand why I can't seem to get the printer
default within Vuescan to 'remember' the Letter setup from one start
to another. Any suggestions regarding that issue ?

No suggestions on that one-- I've never printed direct from Vuescan. I
always put the '*.Raw' ,'*.tif', and *.jpg' s into seperate directories and
then use either paintshop pro or photoshop to crop , adjust etc and then
print from there.. I'll have a little play and see what you mean..

One of our printers, a 10 year old Okidata OL400e, gets cranky and
asks for custom size, when interfacing with Vuescan, then is happy if
I feed 8 1/2 x 11 through manual feed. It get's cranky for a lot of
other reasons as well, just having it turned off when being sent a
print job freaks it, in WinXP. Used to work fine, with an Oki supplied
driver, in Win98. With WinXP, the driver is supposedly "built in" to
the system, but the reality is not that great. Our other printer, an
HP Deskjet 1000C, works fine with Vuescan. So, could be the print
drivers.

If you've got MSFax installed, and have set it as default printer, you
can use your scanner as fax.

Our epson flatbed came with all these capapilites within it's oem
software, but it was so buggy, I prefer Vuescan.
