Put it into the long list of features Ed. How about hooking the Output |
Output JPEG feature into the Preview as an option, holding the preview in
memory or as a temp file which later becomes the JPEG, the JPEG would be at
the specified rez of the preview on the Input tab.

But if I understand you correctly, that feature is there now. Just press
"Save" from the preview window and (if you have jpeg output selected)
voila! I do that when the frame is not a keeper but I want it on the
index sheet.

True but I have to hit save every time, but what I'm getting at is
automating saveing the jpeg with the preview. I want to create two files a
high rez tiff and lo rez. Since I have to preview the image anyway (one
could argue previewing is optional I suppose) my thoughts were to use the
data from the preview as the lo rez image. It saves having to process twice
later (tiff then jpeg) at the scan stage. Just a thought.

In the Output tab, you currently can choose to save one jpeg, it's
either full size, or reduced by a factor you specify.

I would like both full size AND reduced jpeg output. Would be nice if
there was some way to do that in the output tab, so both would be
automatically output, one after the other, with no further
intervention needed.

Just set 'Auto save: Preview' on input tab.

'Auto save: Preview' and saving raw files with subsequent processing
would do the trick. Not exactly what you looking for, but...

Another thing would be to create an image magick or IrfanView batch
file that reduces image size and use it as 'external viewer'...
