Using Vuescan 8.1.4 on Windows XP with a Minolta Scan Multi Pro I get broad
bands of image softening several millimetres wide running in the scan
direction.
Turning on pixel colours shows that these are where the infrared detect is
picking up a "problem". The film is spotlessly clean with no scratches.
Turn infrared clean off and the bands disappear.
Using ICE in the Minolta software on the same image does not show the
problem.
This doesn't sound like the subtle banding others have noted on the 5400,
but I wonder if it is in any way related.
I've sent Ed a problem report but wondered if anyone here has a) seen
similar, b) worked out a solution.
Cheers
