Hi

Has anyone got an HP Officejet 7110 [USB] to work with Vuescan? The
scanner is fine as it gets picked up by the HP software, however the
VueScan s/w will not detect it. I have tried with the HP software
installed and NOT installed same result it does not detect the
hardware.

The PC is running WinXP SP1

Any sugegstions would be appreciated.

Thanks Martin

I've been working on this for the past few days, and I've discovered
that there are two types of USB OfficeJet/PSC commands. All of
these scanners use Scanner Control Language (SCL) commands, but
the older ones encapsulate these commands in an IEEE 1284.4 (DOT4)
protocol. The newer ones use a composite interface that works
with normal SCL, but the older ones (including the 7110) need
to have DOT4 encapsulation.

I bought an HP OfficeJet 750 on ebay, and have been working with
this to get the DOT4 encapsulation working (it uses the same
DOT4 protocol as the 7110).

The DOT4 encapsulation is almost working, and I'm going to
continue working on this when I get back on Wednesday (I'm
going on a trip later today).

Ed Hamrick
