I have been using VueScan on my Debian (woody) system for quite some
time, and decided to upgrade the copy of VueScan. Trouble is, the later
7.6.77+ releases have been compiled using DeadRat 9 (Redhat) and they
don't work on my Debian system..

I am looking for a pre-7.6.77 copy of VueScan for Linux..

Do a "ldd vuescan", check which libraries are missing and get them
from RedHat or wherever.

I have vuescan running under FreeBSD linux emulation (RedHat 8
actually) and "scanning from file" works well.
