Do you know how film profiling and film-base-color lock impact each other?
Do I need to lock film-base-color before making film profile, or after it, or never?

Thank you in advance,
Oleg.

Me too?
And why does a subsequent scan of an unexposed frame of a negative not
come out black?

It will come out black if you use the "Advanced Workflow Suggestions"
in the VueScan User's Guide, and if you also set "Color|Color balance"
to "None".

Thanks, it was the color balance setting I had not understood.

Still not clear why fim settings are still available when the user's
own film base has been set!
