Tony Sleep recommend the following workflow for Vuescan, which
potentially would save a lot of time: set the preview resolution to
4000dpi and to check the box "Scan from Preview". Vuescan (8.0 or any
from 7.6.79-7.6.84) would often turn off my scanner in the middle of
the scan, or otherwise crash (freeze) in the middle of a scan. When
I opened Nikon Scan (after closing Vuescan), Nikon Scan also froze,
unless I turned the scanner off first.
I did manage to get 2 slides scanned once before the program crashed,
and the color was significantly different than when I had separate
preview and final scans done. It would be nice if the colors were the
same with both methods of scanning. Of course, it would also be nice
if this scan method worked at all with the LS-5000.
My system information:
WinXP
Vuescan 8.0
Nikon LS 5000 with slide feeder
I used a profile for Kodachrome generated with vuescan.
preview resolution: 4000dpi
checked scan from preview.
media type: slidefilm
24 bit color
batch scan: all
rotation: left
autofocus: always
autoscan, autosave: none
dust removal: medium
slide vendor: kodak
slide film: kodachrome, K14
scanner color space: Icc profile
film color space: builtin
