I have just started using VueScan, I am a beginner but I realize
VueScan has alot of potential.

However VueScan is giving me a hard time getting accustomed to it. I
have a bunch of boxes with slides that I am going to scan but so far
every slide has a kind of blue hue distortion that I cant seem to get
rid of no matter how much I tweak the colobalance settings.

I am pretty clueless of what to do next so I would be extremely
thankfull for any help even if it is just general pointers.

I have uploaded some example scans on my gallery:

http://mir.fallman.org/gallery/vuescan

Please take a moment to look at them, I am pretty sure even someone
with intermediate skills with VueScan can figure out what is going on
here.

Since I have about 2 months to scan a total of 2000 slides I am pretty
anxious to get started... :}

I experience the same blue cast on my Kodachromes from the 60s using
an LS-4000. The following works for me.
On the Input tab set Media to image.
On the Color tab reduce the Brightness Blue (and/or increase
Brightness Red and Brightness Green. Note: Brightness in VueScan is
a gamma multiplier.
You probably will need to increase the Brightness a little as well.
Experiment with Color balance. I find White balance or Auto levels
works best on my slides.
You might also need to reduce the Color tab White point % a bit.
Experiment!

For sides from the same roll, try the Advanced Workflow (lock exposure
and film base color) in conjunction with the Color tab brightness
tweaks listed above. The Advanced Workflow is described in the User's
Guide.

Hope this helps get you going.

The main thing is to make sure you have "Input|Media type" set to "Image".

You can set the color balance by clicking with the right mouse
button (or using control-click on Mac OS X) on a neutral color.
