I'm scanning color negs four by two up on my epson 3200. I've locked my
exposure and film base. My colour correction is set to white balance. After
the preview stage Vuescan methodically goes through each frame and seems to
do a balance, because on the whole the preview at that moment looks as good
as the last frame balanced (ie. at the end frame 8 looks fine but 1 to 7 may
or may not be). Is this the balance it uses when I hit scan for the final?
Is Vuescan prebalancing during the preview stage?

Vuescan does a color balance for each frame separately in final scan,
if I remember correctly (unless you lock image color).
