I'm a user of Minolta Dimage Scan Dual III from two weeks. Generally I'm
plesed with it especially looking on possibilities/price. I scan slides and
negatives using Minolta soft and Vuescan. Some days ago I saw a bad 1px wide
line on the scan from negative along the scan direction. You can see it in
original size on http://www.tkdami.pl/~zpluta/wycinek.jpg. I scanned several
frames wih the same effect in the same plece on every frame. My Minolta
customer support told me to send the scanner to them to clean it. But I
realized that this line doesn't apper on scans scanned using original
Minolta software. What's going on ?

I also scanned a frame to RAW using Vuescan and inverted it manually
removing mask in PhotoShop - the same problem. Now i wonder if this is the
scanner problem or Vuescan problem. The CCD is broken and Minolta software
so intelligent ? Maybe something else ?

Did you try to recalibrate the scanner in VueScan (Scanner|Calibrate)?
After that, VueScan may be able to compensate for the problem.

Yes, I did. But problem returned (but I don' remember after which scan it
was). Next time I'll try to recelibrate scanner before each scan.
I promise to write about the results then.

Thanks.

You can also try deleting vuescan.ini from the VueScan directory.
VueScan will recreate it, but you will lose any settings you have.
This has helped me several times with my Scan dual III.
