Since the scanner module is obsolete in kernel-2.6 - the functional
substitute being libusb - /dev/usbscanner is no longer a valid device.
This renders Vuescan incapable of accessing the scanner.
Does anyone know of a workaround?
Ed Hamrick (if you read this) are you planning any fix?

Although usbscanner is now obsolete in 2.6 I have successfully used the
scanner driver in my 2.6.1 setup, does it not work for you? Not sure how
much longer this driver will remain so I agree that a solution is needed
for this. I don't know which scanner you have but my workaround for this
was to use the firewire interface but only because I was having USB
communication problems.

This seems really esoteric. What scanner and operating system are you
concerned with?

I use a Minolta scanner with the 2.6.2 kernel, but I now access
it via SCSI. The module is hpusbscsi.

Looked in the src for hpusbscsi - Minolta Elite II is defined there, not
my Epson 2450. Will try adding the corresponding entries and see.
Thanks for the hint.
