I've downloaded the latest Vuescan version (8.0.1) for Linux. My OS is Suse
LInux 9.0. I'm trying to set up my new scanner HP Scanjet 3970 under Vuescan
but I'm experiencing problems since the program does not recognise my
scanner connected through an USB 2.0 port. Should I set up libusb, and How?
I tried the command sane-find-scanner -v -v under root and my scanner was
spotted using libusb.
The File /proc/bus/usb/devices lists my scanner with 'Driver=hub'.
However, I cannot use Vuescan.
Can someone help me? Any suggestions?

I can't offer any help, but for what it's worth, I tried hooking
an HP Scanjet 3970 to my wife's laptop running Win98. The Windows
version of Vuescan can't find it either. So I don't think it's a
Linux thing.

The Windows software that came with the scanner has no trouble finding
and using it, so I doubt it's a hardware problem. But the supplied
software is _dreadful_ - I'd much rather use Vuescan if I could.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll try to get it substituted with another
brand, EPSON or CANON for instance.
