Any clue as to why Vuescan 7.6 does not recognize the presence of my HP 8200
Scanner? Yes, I did check the scanner was on and all.

Would appreciate any comments.

OH my friend I'm sorry to say but Vuescan does not support the HP 8200
and that is the reason it does not recognize its presence.
The author of Vuescan relies and on the cooperation of scanner makers.
HP has not been helpful is providing source codes for this scanner.
It is very frustrating and I don't see why the likes of HP and Canon
don't see that Vuescan compliments their products. Vuescan's success
is their success.

I suggest Epson.

OH I totally agree.
At home I have a Scanjet 5p, an Epson 3200, and a Minolta Scan Elite.
At work I purchased an HP Scanjet 7450. All these scanners are
excellent machines and they all work with Vuescan.
Today I would never buy a new HP scanner and I advise all who ask me
not to buy a new HP scanner. Any company not willing to release their
codes is a company with striped screw on.
Get an Epson and avoid HP and Canon.

Oh man! I paid through the nose for this shit!
