Once again I've attempted to figure out how to incorporate
Vuescan's color profiling in my work flow. I'm still confused.
Case 1: I set a scanner profile to one I've created (with Monaco)
and set the output profile to "device". The file is output with no
embedded profile.
Case 2: Same as 1, but I set the output to AdobeRGB. The file is
output with this profile embedded.
Case 3: I scan with no profile assigned and then open the file in
Photoshop with no profile and using the
"no profile" dialog box, I set the profile to my scanner profile
followed by convert to AdobeRGB. This workflow gives the closest
match to the original.
So I'm not sure what is happening during the first two cases.
Can any Vuescan settings do the same function as case 3, or should
I just forget the profiling feature. I was trying to have Vuescan
do the open steps that Photoshop performs so that the files would
be delivered to the editor without the interruption of the open
dialog.
Advice, anyone?
