I have a Prime Film 1800u scanner that I got last year. It has a USB
interface.

I have been able to use it using the supplied software. Last year, I
tried VueScan and it did not support the scanner.

I just noticed that it now supports my film scanner. I tried it.
Downloaded and installed CyberViewX as instructed. But VueScan does
not recognize the scanner. CyberViewX does operate the scanner.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make it work???

BTW, this is on Win98se.

TIA,

Joe

I used to use that scanner with Vuescan on W98SE before I got my
present scanner. Vuescan found it and operated it. I haven't used the
PF for quite a while though. The version of CyberView X I had was 1.0
and I notice they are now on 1.06. Also, make sure the sannner is
connected and switched on *before* you start Vuescan. And make sure
you have not operated the scanner with Cyberview X immediately before
starting Vuescan. If you have, switch it off and on again first.

But in the C:\WINDOWS\Twain_32\CyberViewX_SF\ directory, there is a
readme.txt file that contains the following statement. Though not
directly relevant to Vuescan, it may help you.

Quote

USB Information
================
If you are using Windows 98SE and the CyberView X TWAIN Data
Source reports it cannot find the scanner, close the software
and right-click on the My Computer icon on your desktop. Select
Properties from the popup menu and select the Device Manager
tab. Click the "View devices by type" radio button and then
click the Refresh button. The category Image Device should
appear and the Film Scanner will be listed in this category.
If this problem continues, we suggest you cycle the power
off, then on, on the film scanner, reboot your computer, with
the film scanner turned on and the USB cable connected between
the scanner and your computer.

Endquote.

Good luck.

One thing to try is moving PF1800U.DLL into the
c:\vuescan directory. I think PIE moved the location
it puts the scanner .DLL files in their latest version
of CyberView X.

This fixed the problem.
