The message I receive when I try to publish from remote to local is; Server
Error The url contact_us_files/_vti_cnf is invalid. It may refer to
nonexistent file or folder, or refer to a valid file or folder that is not in
the current web. All procedssing is then stopped and I am unable to publish
anything.
Also when I publish from local to remote on my publish report it states was
unable to delete contact_us_files/_vti_cnf and I am not sure what all that is
about.
Can you help?

Contact your web host and ask them to run a server health check and/or re-install the extensions.

My server deleted and re-installed frontpage extensions. I am still getting
errors;
When publishing from remote to local; Server error The url_vti_bin is
invalid. It may refer to an nonexistant file or folder, or a valid file or
folder that is not in the current web. Also my guest book dynamic component
says server you are publishing to does not have frontpage server extensions.
Went publishing from local to remove several errors;
550 guest_log/Guest_book.htm permission denied
Failed to delete folder "_vti_txt".
Failed to delete folder "_vti_log".
Failed to delete folder "_vti_bin/_vti_aut".
Failed to delete folder "_vti_bin/_vti_aut".
Failed to delete folder "_vti_bin/_vti_adm".
Failed to delete folder "_vti_bin/_vti_adm".
Failed to delete folder "_vti_bin".
550 Abba_Who.htm: Permission denied
I never asked any files to be deleted?
I have basic knowledge of frontpage and all these problems are way over my
head. Any suggestions?

If you are publishing from remote to local, that normally indicates you have
your live/remote FP web open and are trying to publish it back to your local
pc. And, if that's the case, do you have the FP server extensions installed
on your local pc?

I am using FP 2003 does that not mean I have frontpage extensions on my pc?
I am creating new pages and editing existing pages created by someone else
(not sure what format they had).
My site is yahuahseed.org and now permission is denied to all files I try to
publish to site. Does it make any difference that the server I am using is
ftp?--

Just a note, I have just went through the same mess. What I finally did was
to create an "empty" website on my PC, then publish from the remote server
back to the newly created empty site. Once that was done, I tested and found
that I could now publish from the newly loaded site back up to the server.
Note that you can actually maintain a website that is on the server just
start up the FP on your PC and go to the server edition of your website using
the "open your remote website in Front page" command. Once in there all the
editing is done right on the server copy.

Larry, thank you for the excellent suggestion. I was able to correct the
problem, but your idea will solve another problem that I have been working
around.
