I have gotten those errors when my power supply was marginal for the card.
2-D was fine but if I ran a program that stressed the 3-D graphics - POW

THREAD_STUCK_IN_DRIVER.

What's your power supply rated?

I got the same problem. I rolled my driver back to the XP version and all
is well now. I have an ATI x1300.

I got the new driver from MS via updates so a fair warning to all those
using the ATI beta for Vista.
