Hi group,

Reading this news I see that "CF 1 and CF 2 can coexist, so you don't
install it "over" CF 1.0" (by chris tacke)

But can VS 2003 can coexist with VS 2005 ?
Would they share some ressources ?
Can i still develop on 'old' WCE 4.2 or PPC2003, using VS2003 with VS 2005
installed ? using VS 2005 with CF1.1 ?

thank you all for your responds ..

At this moment I have VS2k3 and VS2k5 RC0 and both works without
problems. My answer is yes - both versions can coexist.

Lonifasiko,

If people just upgrade Activesync rather than uninstalling and reinstalling,
this should not be a problem however.

Sure an upgrade works? If really, problem solved!!

I had many problems with this issue and I think could not be so easy.
How do you upgrade AS 3.8 to AS 4.0?

Thnaks for the info Ginny and regards.

Lonifaiko,

Yes it works. I've done it several times. If you have AS 3.8 installed and
install 4.0 without uninstalling 3.8 first, then you get an upgrade. I
realize that for most products, this isn't the way to go, but it does work
with AS 3.8 to 4.0.

As mentioned by others, the answer is yes.

That being said, if you're developing a CF 1 application, I highly
recommend switching to VS 2005 because it allows you to develop either
CF 1 or CF 2 applications. I moved my CF 1.0 application to VS 2005 and
it's still a CF 2 application. However, VS 2005 is a much nicer
environment than 2003. AND, you can test your 1.0 application on the
Windows Mobile 5.0 emulators and devices in addition to 2003 emulators
and devices.

I have seen no down-side to switching to using VS 2005 full-time.

If you target CE 4.2 devices that would be a down side - you can't debug on
them from '05
