Hi

Is there advantage of installing VS 2008 SP1 for vb winform database
developers? Any issues that I should know?

Thanks

Regards

Lots. First, it updates the VS IDE and fixes a number of bugs. Next, it
enables the ReportViewer control and the Server Explorer to work with SQL
Server 2008. It also updates SQL Server Compact Edition to 3.5 and makes the
IDE and Local Data Cache mechanism work better. It also improves (fixes) the
TableAdapterManager and a lot more. I heartily endorse this update--it's a
"must install" AFAIC.

Not to mention that if you ever plan to deploy your apps it can save a
lot of headaches for you and your customers if they plan on using the
app from a network share as 3.5 SP1 changes the trust level for local
intranet.

Plus it supports .net 3.5 client framework feature (smaller framework
redistributables for client only installations).
And. as other said, lot more benefits.
