Hi,

Has anyone used VS2005 on a mini-notebook with a 16GB solid state disk? I
am thinking of getting one for its size and portability.

I used to use VS2005 on a 550Mhz PIII laptop; it was a little sluggish,
but otherwise worked fine. The only thing I'd be concerned with is the
small disk; even my old laptop had a 20GB drive, later upgraded to 40GB.
But, as long as you don't want a lot of other stuff on it, 16GB is
probably fine too.

I do this all the time on my Dell netbook, but not natively - I RDC from the
Dell into my main box. In general, that's how I use my netbook - as a means
of remotely accessing "real" computers. I want to use Word, I simply RDC
onto a box with Word, and same deal for everything else except browsers and
media players (which run locally just fine).

I view my netbook not as a computer, but as a communications device - it
allows me to take-over any one of several other computers I own and use them
remotely. My netbook is treated as a remote screen, keyboard and mouse, and
not really a computer in its own right. Its a very practical model.
