And comments and ridicule thus insued.
......
1. Now firstly I *was* only joking about the automatic sharing of code.
That makes me quite sick to think that Microsoft are exploiting, or at least
attempting to exploit VB programmers in such a way. I don't program with VB
because it is *easy* I program with it because I like the language, why are
they treating us like "spastic coders" that they feel we *need* these
mundane features.
2. They have added a "make .exe" button in the menu? Wow, I bet that
took them hours to implement, why the hell would you want it now anyway?
3. No, misspelling booleon doesn't "happen to the best of us" it happens
to the incompetent of us, the ones who don't event bother to look at the
screen when they are "pasting snippet's of code". Christ!
4. Code correction??? Why? Soon the program *will* be writing itself
and their will be no need for a programmer. Suggestion the code that you
might have meant to type? And I can imagine that being successful, can't
you? What's the best that the feature isn't in the final?
5. Any comments on their vast MP3 collection on the demo PC?? And I
even have a nice story of "old Microsoft". I have developed control systems
touch panel designs for "Bill Gates" private yacht called "The Meduse"
(Which doesn't appear to have a web site now, or so I have noticed). And
onboard this boat there were servers of MP3's, I'm talking about thousands
upon thousands of MP3's, strange how that can be classed as legal
considering the boat was hired out to the rich and famous, that doesn't seem
to be a "personal music collection for personal use" to me!!! Ar5ehole5!
6. Did anyone else think that the print preview dialog looked rather
like a badly bodged hard coded VB form? Hmm, I think so..
7. "Exception helper", yet another code to attempt to put VB programmers
in a wheel chair, it seems quite similar to the paper clip in Office, can
anyone picture this..
"It seems like your developing a multi media management application,
what would you like me to do?"
* Automatically paste "helpful code snippets" for you in random
locations?
* Notify Microsoft of all your "rare materials" that your testing the
application with by uploading them to MSDN
* Just fu*k off and leave you alone?
8. Is it just me but does anyone else feel that databases are over used
in Microsoft demos? I mean for Christ sake there are a very small
percentage of "Windows applications" that actually use databases. I feel
that this is just a really poor way to base a development system, I agree
that the database utilisation is an important one, but only for specific
applications, and a media player is NOT one of them!!
9. Points on the XP theme? Is this just to try to make VB look new and
special?
10. And I totally love the loop of exceptions that were raised in their
heavily prepped demo!
10. Does anyone here find the placement of controls on a Windows form
difficult enough to require "snap lines"? Or is this an accessibility
feature for the blind? I can't wait until they have the neural programming
implemented so that dying programmers can finish off their applications
while their brain is kicking out the last electrical impulses.
11. "Whidbey"?
"Where do you want to go today?"
Not where you're going you bunch of fu*ckpigs!
Nick.
