Well I am back. I am trying to back into the developing world. I have done a
ton of the old visual studio developing. Now I see there is visual studio dot
net 2003 and 2005. So my question is do I invest time with the 2003 version
or just start working with the 2005 version. I am a universal subscriber with
Microsoft so I have access to all tools. Now if I do go down the path of 2005
is there a allot environment changes I need to do to get it to work
correctly. And I am open to any good resources for 2005 training information.
books or videos.

William,

VS2003 has a lot of documentation by instance for VB in the VB resource kit
and in an enormous endless amount of websites.

So for learning purpose I would take that until that the documentation in
VS2005 is complete.

It is forever anoying learning a language while there is not enough
information.

While at the moment you have learned enough to do it without the
documentation VS2005 is probably ready.

Just my thought of it.

I sent some 2005 beta version test pages to my web host. They failed,
apparently because their server did not support 'compile with' (which I
understand is new in 2005). Another page that referred to an XML document
also turned terminally turtle. I have stuck with 2003 as pages created with
it work fine with my web host.

The only problem with VS.Net 2005 at the moment is that it is a beta. It
might change before it's released, and, AFAIK, there is no "go live" license
so you won't be able to release anything you compile with it until Ms
releases the final version. So, unless you are willing to wait on
Microsoft's unknown schedule...
