Brian B.

I would like to view VRML files (.wrl) within powerpoint.

I'd like to insert them much like an AVI and have them
play within PowerPoint, and not open a separate viewer
window.

I have found several VRML web based clients but haven't
found a plug-in for PowerPoint.

Appreciate you help.

Brian,
Get yourself a copy of Liveweb (free) by Shyam Pillai
http://www.mvps.org/skp/liveweb.htm
If you have your browser plugin (CosmosPlayer is still the best!) then you
can insert a URL directly to the .wrl file in question and have it play
inside PP.
cheers
Bill

[CRITICAL UPDATE - Anyone using Office 2003 should install the critical
update as soon as possible. From PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for
Updates".]

Hello,

Since VRML is intended to be hosted within a browser, PowerPoint doesn't
provide the functionality natively and, instead requires the use of an
ActiveX control ("Microsoft Web Browser") that is already on your system as
part of Windows and have the control reference the URL for a VRML page.
Here's a KB article to get you started:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;291926

If you (or anyone else reading this message) think that it's important that
PowerPoint provide this kind of functionality natively (not require an
ActiveX control or an add-in), don't forget to send your feedback (in YOUR
OWN WORDS, please) to Microsoft at:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

As with all product suggestions, it's important that you not just state
your wish but also WHY it is important to you that your product suggestion
be implemented by Microsoft. Microsoft receives thousands of product
suggestions every day and we read each one but, in any given product
development cycle, there are only sufficient resources to address the ones
that are most important to our customers so take the extra time to state
your case as clearly and completely as possible.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions)
