VRML in Powerpoint

I have been experimenting with VRML (virtual reality modelling language)
files (extension .wrl) to display in a powerpoint (XP) show. Although I've
managed to do this with the Cortona VRML client from Parallel graphics, I
find CosmoPlayer a superior (but now unsupported) product.

The problem is when I try to insert a CosmoPlayer ActiveX control, PP tells
me that the "object library is not registered". I then go and register the
CosmoPlayer activeX control file via "register custom control" - but I still
end up with the same problem.

Any suggestions? Or any other way to get VRML to display in PP?

cheers

Shyam,
Running your live web add-in worked a treat with running cosmoplayer VRML
object inside a powerpoint show. I can think of several othere things it
will be useful for also! Great plugin.

The only question I have is: Is there a way to have a relative (rather than
absolute) URL for the file in question?

e.g. I have the *.wrl file in question in the same folder as the powerpoint
show - the absolute reference to it will change depending on what PC I have
the *.ppt and *.wrl files - an absolute URL will "lose" the file - whereas a
relative reference to the file in the same folder (i.e. just the filename of
the *.wrl file) would solve this problem. But I can't get your plugin to
resolve relative references. Any suggestions?

cheers

Landy,
It does support relative paths however I'll modify the code to look for the
file in the presentation folder instead of the current directory. Give me a
few hours I'll upload an update.

Thanks a million Shyam - that worked brilliantly. I had some trouble at
first with the plugin telling me it could not find the file - but then I
edited the link - completely removing the path, and everything seemed to
work fine. I can now even add a new *.wrl file as a web page with no path
at all and it works first time (provided I have saved the *.ppt file in the
same folder first).
You're worth more money!
cheers
