Why does a VPN connection setup with an XP computer so easy and it fails when
I try to set up the connection with a VISTA Ultimate computer.

Since Microsoft knows the default settings within XP to create the VPN
connections why not have MS make available the necessary changes to the
default settings in VISTA in order to make this connection work from VISTA.

Have had to add an XP box at the office for on connection. And more money
for MS software. I am furious....

Any suggestions

Your post is a little vague about what you are trying to do. Could you post
a little more detail? What type of VPN server are you connecting to? What
AV/firewall is installed on the Vista computer? Why did you have to add an
XP computer at the office? Are you trying to remotely connect to a specific
computer? Is the Vista computer the remote computer?

Running VISTA Ultimate The problem is as follows :
I need a VPN connection from my office to an insurance company server.
With an XP computer the connection is straight forward, follow the MS XP
VPN wizard and everything works ( 1723 TCP -L2TP and 500 UDP -IPsec
encryption ).

I have both the Xp and VIsta computers using the same router. What are the
settings in VISTA that are different from XP..... Open to suggestions.

Have you installed the certificate? How did you install it?
