Hey Everyone,
is it possible to establish a VPN connection between 2
Windows 2000 Professional machines? If so, could you
please point me to some detailed instructions on how to do
this. I've been pulling my hair out trying to
successfully establish the VPN connection but i'm always
given an error saying something along the lines of 'client
and server could not agree upon a PPP.'
One machine is on a dial-up connection, the other on a
LAN. Both are running Windows 2000 Pro. Any help is
appreciated.

Since one machine is dial-up and the other is on a LAN, I
would guess that the VPN ports are being bloked by the
gateway router to the LAN, as these ports are usually not
open by default, especially since they are typically mapped
to a VPN server. You;ll need to map those ports to the
client machine you are trying to VPN with.

Sorry, I don't recall the port numbers. I would recommend
testing with both machines on the same segment first, then
move one to other side of router after mapping the ports.

Test one thing at a time...!
