VPN Setup

Hello
I am trying to setup my first VPN and cannot get the basic configuration to work. I am useing the MS whitepaper "Connecting Your Network to the Internet with Windows Server 2003" and "Connecting Remote Users to Your Network with Windows Server 2003"

First, in the setup of static routes it says to enter 0.0.0.0 in the Destination and Network Mask then click "OK" but the interface will not let you go forward without an entry in the gateway. What should be entered in the gateway

Second, in the "Setting Remote Access Permissions and Policies" I am supposed to select "Control access trhough Remote Access Policy" but that tab is grayed out. Allow access does not seem to work

Third, I read in this forum as a solution to the Error 720 which I also got, that you nees to have NetBIOS on the RAS and Client machines but it is not mentioned in either paper. Is this correct? Do I need NetBIOS

And Lastly, I took ISA off of my RAS server to make sure I wasn't blocking any ports and now I get Error 800: Unable to establish the VPN connection. Is this because NetBIOS is not installed

Any help would be appreciated and I am more than willing to start over if needed

I have reset the rras and after unselecting the basic firewall on the external I get past the 800 error and see the verifying username,password. I am still stuck on Error 721: the remote computer did not respond. I have install NetBIOS on both the server and client.

Hi Franklyn,

For the gateway entry, it should be your machine's default gateway. Use
"ipconfig" to get your machine's gateway address.
