I've just setup a W2K Terminal Server.

I was going to allow client access through the internet via a VPN.

Do you think it is a bad idea to run VPN server on the Terminal
Server? Obviously, it's a cheaper option than using a hardware
solution.

I would go ahead and try it out and see what happens. If
your terminal server is heavily loaded, thenyou might see
some competition for resources, but the only way to see
this is to try it out.

I'm not big on VPNs with TS, especially MS VPN, here's why. MS VPN and TS
login are the same username/password usually so it is like using 2 locks on
your front door that use the same 1 key. Second, I don't like VPN's b/c not
only is it good for transfering data you need back and forth, it can
transfer other things! If you don't have control of those machines and they
aren't patched or AV updated then you are compromising your server. This is
thebeauty of SBC!
