We are experimenting with VPN as a way to let remote users access their
files on a Windows 2000 server.
Two problems so far:
(1) Sometimes there are several false starts before a file can be opened.
If for instance I connect to the VPN, then go to My Computer and try to open
\\servername\foldername, I'll get a "Windows cannot find" error message a
couple of times, and then I'll get prompted for my user name and password,
and once I've given them, everything starts working fine.
What do I need to tweak?
(2) More seriously: When I'm connected to the VPN, access to the rest of the
Internet is slow, presumably because it's all going through the VPN server.
I understand this can be corrected by some kind of routing table
modification. How is that done?
Thanks!
