I am able to dial into our VPN with dial-up and have
complete access to network resources. However, when I
connect thru a cable modem, I don't have access to any
network resource. I am in the network as I'm able to
ping the PDC and other devices, but I cannot log into the
domain. When I select a folder on the network, a box
opens requesting username and password, but it does not
recognize any valid names. I'm running XP Pro and our
PDC is Win2K

I, too, had the same problem with my XP machine trying to log into a Win
2000 domain server at work. Apparantly my VPN was not passing the domain to
the server, since I am not configured to use a domain at home. I fixed it
by logging in to the user name / password box like this:
For USER NAME, enter DomainName\UserName Then enter your
password as normal.
Let me know if this works

Thanks for the info. I did try that with no success. I
get an error message back stating that it has already
tried that username. I then entered the admin
credentials, and would not allow me to log in either.
However, I can disconnect my laptop from the cable modem,
go thru dial up and connect to our network no problem.
