Okay, relative newbie to VPN's (not a complete dumbass though lol)
Set up VPN as per all the instructions on the host server machine.
Setup a connection on another client machine that is on the same LAN
(i know this is not the best way to test the connex). No joy, get 619
error. (connecting to the Internet first on the shared ICS proxy)
Both these machines on this LAN have NIS 2004 and its configured for
file sharing and ICS absolutlely fine no problem. Have tried to
connect with NIS off still no good.
I can go to the machine that is the host (and this sounds even dumber)
and setup a vpn connection which it WILL connect on however, it will
only do this when NIS is OFF!! With NIS enabled I get a 800 error.
So my query is - does NIS have a profound effect on allowing the
incoming connections and if so how do i configure it manually to allow
connections in??
Is there a dead easy way to enable a VPN even with firewalls??
All machine that will connect to this VPN will all be high spec XP
machines ALL with NIS, most will connect via a broadband (dsl)
connection first. The host machine is a permanently ON broadband
(1Mbps) high spec server with just a few existing LAN P2P connections.
Many thanks,
Gary
