We are using a VPN over cable modem from the client and inbound cable
modem at the office. It seems to connect OK, but if we try to bowse
anything it is SLOOOOOW. We open up a share from the server it takes
almost a minute to list the files, if I map a drive to the share it
does the same. If I drill down through the structure it takes just as
long (for the most part) for each irectory I go down into, AND it
takes as long as I go back 'up' to directories I've already been in.
If I go to a command prompt, and just do a DIR, it lists them
instantly. but browsing or opening files moves far slower than I would
expect for the speed of conneection.
I also found that if we disable netbios, we can't even find
theservers. Also, if I browse to our secondary server, it seems a good
bit faster.
This seems consistant for all our users, so I assume it is a setign on
teh server itself, or somethign in the default windwos XP VPN setup.
Anyone have any suggestions? THANKS!
