I have two PC's running Win XP Pro. Both are connected to the Internet
through a LinkSys router. The first PC is configured for a workgroup,
not a domain. The second, a laptop, is configured for my work domain,
but I'm using it here as stand-alone. When I connect the second to my
work domain via a VPN using IPSec, I have a problem with the first PC.
It slows down. In Word or Publisher, for example, you can be typing
and nothing happens. Usually if I wait a few seconds and try again,
the typing will work the second time. The first typing never seems to
have happened. Games intermittently slow to a crawl. Also it is not
consistent. It will be dead slow for awhile and then go back to
normal, as if nothing is wrong. Also, if I'm connected on the second
PC to VPN but am not doing anything on the second PC, the first works
fine. Lastly, when the second PC is not connected to the VPN, the
first works fine.
Any suggestions as to what is going on?
