I've been trying to get a Cisco 800 series router to manage a VPN
connection for 18 months, on and off. I have some basic questions
besides the obvious - why I am a masochist!
Do you have to create an IPSec Profile? The wizard did not! It did
produce:
IPSec policy with a dynamic crypto map
Transform set
IKE policy
Group policy
Pre-shared key
etc
Does the group policy name have to be a user group in Windows Server
2003 with the names of the people who will log in?
The security is set to be default which I think will look up the
Windows data - is this right? How does the router know where to go for
a list of these names?
Not sure why I am worried about this yet as I don't even get the chance
to enter a name and pwd! No response from remote peer...
I can send you a version of the config if that helps - but first I
would like some basis knowledge as Cisco help file is no use at all.
Thanks
