We have a 2003 VPN server set up with a Pre-Shared Key. Works pretty well
for most of us.
A handful of users are getting disconnected 2-3 times a day and cannot get
back in for 5-10 min.
I see no correlation between disconnects i.e. it happens randomly.
I suspect their connections. One is dial-up and the others are various
forms of broadband.
At the time of disconnect I just get an Event ID 542 in the Security log.
It says IKE security association ended. While she is trying to reconnect I
see an Event Failure 547.
Failure Reason:
IKE SA deleted by peer before establishment completed
for her IP address.
After 10 min of trying she connects again.
Any ideas on how I can make these VPN connections more tolerant? Can I mess
with the IP stack for a virtual connection at the client?
