VPN - can't see shared folders...NFTS vs FAT32

I'm setting up VPN on an XP Pro machine, using a Win98
Client. The client connects but I can't see any of the
shared resources. I've made sure all the check boxed are
checked for allowing this. Also, the XP firewall is not
used. Ports are open, etc.

I am able to connect to a different XP Pro computer on
the same network. The only difference is this is a NTFS
system while the other is a FAT32. Are there security
problems here?

I've made some progress. I realized that computers are just not going to
show up in my network neighborhood. I have to drill in to where I want to
go. In explorer I type in the \\computer_name to see the folders on the
host. I can do this to get to other computers on the host's network.
However, this works for W98 and NT computers on the network. If required,
it asks for a username and password, and I supply my network UN and PW.
When I try to get to an XP computer, a box opens up asking for a password
for a share like: \\computer_name\IPC$. what does this mean? What password
can I give it? Nothing seems to work.

Also, if a computer name has a space in it, it can't seem to get to it.

Any ideas?

Thanks...

Len
