My first attempt at getting a VPN up is failing miserably.
I have a WinXP Pro box connected to the internet via a
cable modem thru a LinkSys Wireless-G Router (WRT54G).
WinXP box gets its IP address dynamically from the
Linksys router.
Am trying to get a WinXP home client in a remote office
to connect with the WinXP Pro box.
1. I set up a new user account on the WIN XP box called
RemoteUser with a password I've defined
2. I've set up a VPN server on the WinXP pro box allowing
user RemoteUser to log in (using the network connection
wizard). Under "Network Connection" I now have
an "incoming" connection with "no clients connected"
3. The Linksys rounter allows VPN passthru, which is
enabled for IPSec.
4. Using the network connection wizard I try to set up
a "connection to my workplace" using "vpn" to the ip
address of the LinkSys router using the RemoteUser ID and
password...No Luck.
Any ideas on what am I doing wrong?
