Please redirect me if this is not the correct newsgroup.

I am a programmer (leaving networking to the network pros) and sometimes to
clients' via a Windows VPN.
While connected, my machine (Win XP SP2) can no longer connect to the
internet. Therefore, I can't get email,etc.
My local setup is a peer-peer LAN connecting to the internet via a Netgear
firewall/router.

Is there anything I can do on my end to enable me to still access the
intenet while connected to the VPN?
I do have an additional network adapter available, if that helps.

Try to uncheck use gateway in remote network. Or this search result may
help.

Thanks for the response.
I tried unchecking use gateway and the vpn would not connect.
Much of what was contained in the link pages, I am not comfortable enough
with to play with.

It is supposed to be quite easy to set the Windows VPN.

1) Access the Windows VPN "connection" properties

2) Select the Networking tab

3) Click on Internet Protocol

4) Click on Properties button

5) Click on Advanced... button

6) In the General tab, uncheck "Use default gateway on remote
network..."

The other "web site" link posted seems to be complicated for most
general users.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, it did take me a while to find it (from the info
on the link), but that is what I tried.
When I unchecked it, the VPN would not connect.
