VPN and hardware firewall

Hi folks.

I need to allow remote connections to my machine (XP SP2) it is not
running Windows firewall, 'cos my router has a firewall builtin. What I
need to know is which ports I should open on the router so that I can
log in from elsewhere as if I was at my own desk.

I've had a look round, but I can't find anything definitive on this.

you need toopen port 1723 for PPTP. check this page for more help,
