Volume

I am running XP Home Edition - recently playing Spider
Soltaire I noticed the volume was right down - could not
hear the cards being dealt at all. I have checked all the
connections / volume / mute selections no luck. Anyone
have any suggestions
 
In Spider, click Game, Options, be sure the "Use Sound Effects" box is
checked.

This item was selected by default by the looks of it,
never changed anything on this section
 
Roy, you said you checked the volume. Did you check the mixer to see that
the wave volume is moved up, as well as the master volume control?
