Have Compaq laptop with a 30 GB hard drive.
Bought an external laptop drive and case. New drive is 60 GB.
Using Disk management to try and have laptop recognize the drive & format it.
As the formatting looks like it is completing, I get a pop up message
"Volume size is too big".
To make things a bit more interesting, trying to format with FAT32 (instead
of NTFS) so that I can use it with an older Win 98 desktop computer.
New drive does appear in list under My Computer. When I try to access it,
it says that the disk is not formated and promts me to format it. Doing this
just gets me the error again. Removing the drive completely and re-trying
whole process did not resolve the problem either.
Any ideas why I am getting the error and how to fix this ?
