Volume Levelling

Although when adding tunes to My Library volunme levelling is applied and,
when play tunes, it indicates that the volumes have been levelled, some tunes
are noticeably louder than others. It's only from two or three CDs but
annoying. When buring CDs, the problem isn't there. Is there any reason for
this and, more importantly, is there anything I can do about it?

Try using other software to maximise the volume - Goldwave or Audacity,
google for them.

My issue is slightly different. Why do some audio files not get levelled when
most others do? It doesn't seem to matter what file extension they are - I
tend only to use .wav anyway.

The changing loudness issue is certainly present and although Audacity and
Goldwave are excellent to use, they are time-consuming. It'd be nice if WMP
could do it properly. I've found adjusting the graphic equaliser can help
minimise the volume issues.
