I've experienced this with Windows Media Player and with Itunes.
The volume level of a currently playing MP3 will drop to about half
volume for anywhere from half a second to 10 seconds. It's like some
gremlin is raising and lowering the volume on a whim.
I've updated audio drivers and checked cables. I've never known a
soundcard to give out, and the speakers are squawking or squeaking or
hissing. Everything sounds "clean" from a hardware point of view.
I wonder if there's a piece of insipid software changing output levels.
Arrrgghh.
Anyone ever experienced this?
