volume control is out of control

i am using an XP professional edition software..the computer had just been restored after everything was erased..everything is working very smoothly, but the problem is that even at the highest possible volume control, the soundis still very low that i have to press my ear against the computer.. what can i do to fix the sound on my computer...by the way this is not just for cds it is for every sound of the compute
 
You may need to install a new driver for your sound card (or reinstall it)
Go to the web site for your sound card and download the proper XP driver.
