Why dose the speaker Icon for the volume control not
always show up in the system tray after every boot even
thought it is checked to do so in the sounds setup window
in control panel. Is there a register tweak or something
to make sure this works with every boot?

Thanks, Kurt

First try Kelly's save-settings-on-exit fix @
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
line 54 - right side

If that doesn't do the trick then try this silly trick
that worked on mine. Turn off 'show volume control on the
taskbar' thru control panel > sounds. Shut down computer
and coldstart. (It may take more than one coldstart, I
left mine off for a week, 4-5 coldstarts).
Then turn the icon on. It should remain there for every
boot.
Silly, but effective,
John
