Volume and Network Icons gone & grayed

Hi everyone,

I found LOTS of hits for this when Googling, but no clear-cut solutions that
applied to me. At random points, my Volume and Network icons disappear from
the Notification Area and when I try to restore them from the Properties
menu, they're grayed out.

The policy registry entries in both HKLM and HKCU don't exist, so that
shouldn't be the problem.

A simple log out/log in typically restores them, but is usually too much of
a nuisance to bother doing. If that's the only reliable method, that's what
I'll use when I really need to, but if someone's got a more long-term
solution that prevents the problem in the first place or can fix it
on-the-fly, that'd be great!

Thanks,
Rob

Thanks, Shawn, if it persists, I'll definitely give that a try. At this
point, I'm thinking it's some app that's triggering the problem, as it
normally only occurs at some point AFTER startup, and rebooting will fix the
problem.
